Frequently asked questions
Everything about finding, contacting and hiring house help on HouseHelp — and listing yourself for work.
Is HouseHelp free to use?
Browsing house help is always free. Your first 4 contacts are free. After that you can buy more by M-Pesa — 10 contacts for KSh 1800, 5 contacts for KSh 1000, 2 contacts for KSh 500. You only pay to reveal a helper's phone number once your free contacts are used up.
What kinds of house help can I find?
Nannies and babysitters, house managers and housekeepers, cooks, cleaners, maids, caregivers for the elderly and newborns, gardeners and laundry help — live-in or live-out, full-time or part-time, across Kenya.
How do I contact a house help?
Open a helper's profile and tap “Contact … to interview”. Sign in with your phone number and we reveal their contact so you can call or WhatsApp them directly to interview and hire.
Are the helpers verified?
Helpers can submit a National ID, Certificate of Good Conduct, a Chief's letter and work references. A verified badge appears on their profile once our team reviews and approves each document.
How do payments work?
Payments are by M-Pesa. You pick a contact package, get an STK push on your phone, enter your M-Pesa PIN, and the contacts are added to your account the moment payment clears.
I'm looking for work — how do I list myself?
Tap “Looking for job”, sign in with your phone, and build your profile — photo, skills, location and expected salary. Employers across Kenya can then find and contact you. Listing yourself is free.
Which areas do you cover?
All 47 counties in Kenya. You can browse house help by county and neighbourhood from the home page or the “browse by area” directory.
Do I need the app?
No. You can browse, sign in, contact helpers and pay entirely on this website. The HouseHelp Android app adds in-app chat and intro videos.
