Terms of Service
The rules for using HouseHelp.co.ke. By using the platform, you agree to these terms.
Last updated: 11 June 2026
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the HouseHelp.co.ke website (“HouseHelp”, “we”, “us”). By using the site — browsing, listing yourself, or contacting a helper — you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
2. What HouseHelp is — and isn't
HouseHelp is an online platform that helps employers and house help (domestic workers) find and contact each other directly in Kenya. We provide the listing and contact service only.
We are not an employment agency or bureau, we do not employ helpers, and we are not a party to any arrangement, agreement or employment between an employer and a helper. Any hiring, terms, pay and working conditions are agreed directly between you and the other person.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to use HouseHelp.
4. Your account
You sign in with your phone number and a one-time code. One phone number is linked to one role — employer or helper. Keep your phone and account secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. You agree to provide true, accurate and current information and to keep it up to date.
5. If you list yourself as a helper
- Listing yourself is free. Your profile (name, photo, area, skills, languages, expected salary and any verified badges) will be publicly visible and may appear in search engines.
- By listing yourself, you agree that employers may unlock and use your phone number to contact you about work, and you consent to that sharing.
- You confirm that the information and documents you provide are genuine and belong to you.
6. If you use HouseHelp as an employer
- Your first contacts are free; after that you buy contact bundles by M-Pesa. Unlocking a contact reveals a helper's phone number so you can contact them directly.
- You agree to use contact details only to reach that helper about genuine work — and not to resell, publish, spam or misuse them, and not to collect or scrape data from the platform.
7. Verification — what the badge means
Helpers may submit documents (such as a National ID, Certificate of Good Conduct, a Chief's letter or references). A verified badge means our team has reviewed the documents submitted. It is not a guarantee of a person's character, honesty, skills or suitability, and it does not replace your own checks.
8. Your responsibility and due diligence — please read
- HouseHelp does not vet, endorse or guarantee any employer or helper — their conduct, honesty, skills, references or suitability — and we do not supervise or take part in your dealings.
- You are responsible for your own decisions. Before hiring or working for someone, do your own due diligence — interview, check references and identification, confirm terms in writing, and take normal safety precautions when communicating and meeting.
- You interact with other users, and meet them, at your own risk.
9. Payments
Contact bundles are paid by M-Pesa. Because unlocking a contact immediately gives you a helper's phone number, payments for revealed contacts are non-refundable except where required by law or where a clear error has occurred. Prices may change from time to time.
10. Things you must not do
You agree not to:
- provide false information, impersonate anyone, or create fake profiles;
- harass, threaten, defraud, unlawfully discriminate against, or harm other users;
- resell, scrape, harvest or bulk-collect data or contacts from the platform;
- use the platform for anything unlawful, or for forced labour, trafficking or the exploitation of any person;
- interfere with, damage, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the platform.
11. Content and intellectual property
You keep ownership of the content you upload (such as your profile and photo), and you grant us a licence to host and display it for the purpose of running the platform. You are responsible for the content you provide and confirm you have the right to share it. The HouseHelp name, brand, design and software belong to us and may not be copied or used without permission.
12. Suspension and removal
We may suspend, restrict or remove any account or content that breaches these Terms, is fraudulent, or that we reasonably believe puts other users at risk.
13. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The platform is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that listings are accurate, that helpers or employers are suitable, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, HouseHelp is not liable for any loss, damage, injury, dispute, theft or harm arising from your use of the platform, from your dealings with other users, or from any hiring, employment or arrangement made through it. You agree to indemnify HouseHelp against claims arising from your misuse of the platform or your breach of these Terms.
14. Privacy
Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction over any dispute. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve any issue.
16. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted here with a new “last updated” date; by continuing to use the platform you accept the changes.
